Food& is a biannual publication based somewhere between Madrid and Berlin that intends to explore unusual ways of thinking about food. The magazine is our way of reinventing the culinary genre by providing a platform that generates original artistic content through the use of humour and play. The seed for the project was planted during a visit to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan, as we stood admiringly between a tank of whale sharks and a Japanese family innocently eating from a pack of sushi. The irony and seeming absurdity of the situation evoked in us an idea: to explore the relationship between food and unusual topics, and further whether this could be used as a springboard for our creative purposes. The project is spearheaded by a group of friends, and is sustained by the enthusiasm and hard work of the artists, writers and thinkers that collaborate with us by entrusting their work in our hands for publication.
